Content Management System
A Content Management System (CMS) is a software system used to manage the creation, publication, and storage of information through a set of common tools. Content can include electronic documents, audio, images, media files, and a variety of other assets. The College has chosen to implement Cascade Server by Hannon Hill as its CMS.
The implementation of Cascade Server will enhance the College's website in critical areas:
- Templates to provide for consistent look and feel across the significant majority of the site.
- Administrative tools and workflow rules will help insure consistency of information across sites and pages.
- Content managers will be able to more easily maintain and update their websites from a Mac or PC.
- Improved security by authenticating users to Active Directory.
- Ability to transform web content into usable data for multiple devices and browsers.
- Ability to add syndicated content to sites via RSS feeds.
- Ability to add dynamic content to sites, (e.g. blogs).
- Ability to verify site compliance with Section 508 regulations for accessibility.
Other institutions that use Cascade Server to manage their websites include Clemson University, Duke University, Emory University, Gardner Webb University, Gonzaga University, North Carolina State, University of Richmond, and Reed College.
