Preparing for Cascade Server

Before converting your site(s) over to Cascade Server, there are several steps you should take to prepare.

  • Identify a primary person responsible for content publishing and a secondary person in the event that the primary is unavailable or leaves the department.
  • Conduct an assessment of your website(s) in terms of purpose, audience, and content.
  • Ask your current site visitors to provide feedback on what they like and do not like about the site. What do they have difficulty finding?
  • Check for information ROT: Redundant (located elsewhere and doesn't need to be reproduced here); Outdated (should this be updated or discontinued?); Trivial (unimportant, should be discontinued).
  • Update all current content.
  • Delete all unnecessary content.
  • Review the College's Branding and Style Guide.
  • Attend a scheduled training.
  • Avoid using tables and or frames. These make Section 508 compliance difficult. Replacing tables and frames will also make for easier transition into Cascade.
